Fueled by growth in IT, e-commerce, FMCG and other allied sectors, Bangaluru has become India’s top city with the highest hiring intention in the second quarter of the current fiscal year, according to a report released on Thursday.

In the July-September quarter, according to the “Employment Outlook Report” from human resources company TeamLease Services, 95 percent of employers expressed an intention to hire more, compared with 91 percent in the period from April to June.

From a pan-India perspective, 61 percent of India Inc. was willing to hire during the period (up 7 percent from last quarter).

In Bangaluru, both manufacturing and services have shown a positive intent to hire.

In the manufacturing sector, the top industries were FMCG (48 percent), health and pharmaceuticals (43), manufacturing, engineering and infrastructure (38), power and energy (34), and agriculture and agrochemicals (30).

From a service sector perspective, leading industries included information technology (97 percent), e-commerce and related startups (85), educational services (70), telecommunications (60), retail (essential) (64 ), retail (non-essential) (30), and Financial Services (55).

Sharing his views, TeamLease Services Commercial Director Mahesh Bhatt said that over the past decade, Bangaluru as a market has seen exponential growth across industries, especially with the rise of many new age internet based companies. that provide varied, value-driven services and products.

“This positive growth momentum has led to an influx of employment opportunities across all roles and sectors. More employers are willing to increase their resource pool and are also inclined to pay higher compensation. Indeed, in the coming quarters , hiring intent is expected to rise further to be 97 percent,” he said.

While the demand for jobs focused on IT and digital skills has been high, some of the top profiles/roles that were in demand in the city included IT, Sales, Engineering and Marketing.

From a general location perspective, Delhi (72 percent), followed by Mumbai (59) and Chennai (55), are the most promising cities in the manufacturing sector. From a services sector perspective, Bangalore (97 percent) is at the top, followed by Mumbai (81) and Delhi (68).

The ‘TeamLease Employment Outlook Report’ is a comprehensive hiring outlook report, aimed at HR professionals, politicians and decision makers, reflecting the hiring sentiment of over 865 employers, in 14 cities and 23 industries. in India, a company statement said.
