NEW DELHI: India saw a decline in the number of active Covid-19 cases, even as the country reported 19,406 new infections in the past 24 hours, according to the Data from the Union Ministry of Health updated saturday.

With 19,928 recoveries in the past 24 hours, the number of active Covid-19 cases dropped to 134,793 from 135,364 a day earlier, the Union Health Ministry said.

In addition, India reported 49 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death count to 5,26,649, the Union Health Ministry added. Meanwhile, India’s total case count has risen to 4,41,26,994 with 0.31% active cases. The daily positivity rate at present is 4.96%, while the fatality rate is 1.19%.

Up to 3,91,187 tests were performed during the previous day.
32,73,551 people were also vaccinated in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 2,05,92,20,794.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, meanwhile, said on Saturday that he had tested positive with mild symptoms and his trip to New Delhi had been cancelled. He said that he has isolated himself at home.
“I have tested positive for covid-19 with mild symptoms and have isolated myself at home. Those who have contacted me in the last few days, please kindly self-isolate and get tested. My trip to Delhi is cancelled,” Bommai tweeted. . .
