by Janani K.: SS Rajamouli’s RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, is ringing the cash registers at the Japan box office. According to official trade reports, the film has surpassed the record of Baahubali 2 in the country. In 34 days, RRR managed to gross over 305 million yen (Rs 17.5 crore approx) and is still going strong at the box office. Jr NTR and Ram Charan’s film is the fastest Indian film to enter the 300 million yen club.

RRR BEATS BAAHUBALI 2 IN JAPAN

RRR with Jr NTR and Ram Charan opened in theaters in Japan on October 21. The film received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

On November 25, commercial reports confirmed that RRR surpassed Baahubali 2’s record in Japan by grossing over 305 million yen (approx. 17.5 million rupees). The film surpassed the record of Baahubali 2 and is still going strong at the box office. RRR became the first Indian film to achieve this milestone.

RRR is a fictional tale based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Written by Vijayendra Prasad, the film is directed by SS Rajamouli. Ram Charan and Jr NTR played leading roles while Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson were seen in major roles.
